Andre was a gourmet chef and took great pride in his work. He was especially excited to begin working at Gavante, a prestigious restaurant known for its elegant cuisine. However, he soon realized the head chef was not an easy man to work with as he was continually berated his staff.
One evening, Andre prepared a Japanese shrimp dish for a highly valued businessman that regularly dined at the restaurant. This particular dished was to be served cold. However, the businessman was unhappy as he did not want nor expect cold seafood. The head chef went out and apologized and said it would be corrected promptly. Then he entered the kitchen screaming at Andre. He threw the glass plate at Andre with food flying and narrowly missed his head with the plate.
This was the last straw, and Andre decided instead of getting mad he would get even. Each night, the head chef required that Andre prepare him a dish of his choice to be served promptly at 8:00 pm. That night, Andre mixed in as much of the hottest spices and sauces in the head chef’s pasta dish as possible. Within minutes, the head chef came running up to Andre, his face puffy, red and wet from all the water running from his eyes. He tried to yell at Andre but before he could get a word out, he starting throwing up all over his gourmet kitchen.
Andre walked up to him, smiled, patted him on the back and walked out of the restaurant for good.
